OPTICAL FIBER CONTAINING UV PERMEABLE PEARLESCENT PIGMENT MIXED WITH UV CURING OPTICAL FIBER MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber mixed with a pigment where color definition enabling optical fiber coating to be distinguished can be heightened and cure rate of the coating can be accelerated. SOLUTION: This optical fiber 1 has polymer coatings 20 and 22' containing a pearlescent pigment. The pearlescent pigment contains mica powder through which light having wavelength used for curing the polymer coatings can pass. The mica powder also reflects light having wavelength of visible light. The polymer coatings containing pearlescent pigment has increased UV permeability accelerating cure rate and reflects visible light so as to improve color brightness or definition of the optical fiber coatings.
