Machine for placing sand or ballast under railway track

The machine is equipped with a lifting device for lifting a section of track whilst the sand or ballast is laid on the embankment which normally supports the track. A first conveyor (14) extends from one end of the frame to abut the middle of the frame and a second conveyor (42), which can be swung in a vertical or horizontal plane, is installed underneath the frame. The lifting device (20,22) is installed behind the front bogie (3) and in front of the rear bogie (4).
