<p>The present invention relates to methods for purifying wastewater by producing in situ a hydrophobic flocculent including a water-insoluble metal hydroxide. An oxidizing agent is introduced near the bottom of a chamber (1) through line (4). Water introduced through line (2) maintains a fluidized bed of particles (3).
