A vehicle roof with a solar generator (18) rigidly attached outside to a fixed roof skin (10) is described for the generation of solar current for the vehicle. The solar generator can be adjusted between a first spatially compact position and a second spatially less compact position in which its active solar area projected upon the roof plane is greater than in the first position. Outside on the fixed roof skin, a fastening element extending in the longitudinal direction of the roof is attached which works as a fastening for the solar generator at least in the second position. The solar generator comprises several flat solar elements (22,24).
