PURPOSE: A microwave oven is provided to prevent damage of a magnetron cover by isolating heat of a heater and to prevent pollution of a cooking chamber. CONSTITUTION: A microwave oven comprises a body forming a cooking chamber; an inner case forming the cooking chamber; upper and lower plates contained in the inner case; a front plate opened in the middle of the inner case; a door combined to the front plate; a magnetron(140) oscillating high frequency into the cooking chamber through an interlocking port(124a); a magnetron cover(150) preventing foreign material from letting in the magnetron; a heater(160) fixed on a recessed unit(121a) of the upper plate; a heater cover(170) having plural holes(171); and a cutoff unit(180) opening or closing the holes of the heater cover. Thereby, the microwave oven prevents damage of the magnetron cover by isolating heat to prevent pollution of the cooking chamber.
