The press has a machine frame (2), a guided ram (3) for attaching a first tool part, a ram drive (6) mounted on the frame that determines the displacement-time characteristic of the ram and has at least one associated electric motor and eccentric shaft (8) connected together via a transmission arrangement, and a table mounted on the frame opposite the ram and for attachment of a second tool part. The transmission arrangement contains a supplementary transmission that is specific to a given press to implement different strokes for different presses of the model range. An Independent claim is also included for range of presses.
