PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an assembly for welding an article, e.g. an air cooling sintered alloy aerofoil of a gas turbine engine nozzle and its method. SOLUTION: In this method, a fixture 32 is inserted into a cooling passage 14 of an aerofoil 24. The fixture 32 is formed in such a shape that a first opening to the passage 14 is closed when the fixture is inserted into the passage 14. And, the fixture 32 is formed in such a shape that a gas is introduced into the passage 14 through the ports 40 in longitudinal one line. A wall piercing crack of the aerofoil 24 is weld-repaired, during repair, a gas flow to a cavity 14 is pressurized to the pressure enough to prevent a fused filler material from advancing into the passage 14 through the crack 30 and is maintained at the flow rate to enable a filler material to fill the crack 30. |
