PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a magnetic functional device and a magnetic storage device for stably operating and surely, even if they are integrated densely. SOLUTION: A magnetic functional device 1 is equipped with a distortion sensitive magnetic layer 2, which varies in a magnetic state by distortion and a distortion giving layer 3 distorting the distortion sensitive magnetic layer 2. Distortions given to the distortion sensitive magnetic layer 2 are controlled so as to control the layer 2 in a magnetic state. By this setup, it is not required that a magnetic field is generated by a current for causing changes in the magnetic state.
