PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture recording/reproducing device which can easily manage information recorded in a recording medium by reproducing the picture data of a picture file designated by a user when the comparison results of a password comparison/decision part are matched. SOLUTION: When a user designates a picture file to be reproduced from an input control part 44, a signal for reproducing the picture file designated from the input control part 44 is inputted to a system control part 42. The system control part 42 requests the user to input a password corresponding to the designated picture file through a display control part 45. A password comparison control part 43 compares the password inputted from the user with a password which is read by the system control part 42 and decides whether the password inputted by the user corresponds to the picture file that the user designates. When the decision results of the password comparison/decision part 43 are matched, a drive control part 41 reproduces the picture data of the picture file that the user designates.
