PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device fore correcting the position of a die, punch and ram, and to provide a bending method and a bending machine by which the accuracy of bending is maintained by directly detecting the variation between the edges of the punch and die due to various factors. SOLUTION: A ram 7 is positioned in a prescribed position before starting the working, a distance is measured with a laser length-measuring device 21 by irradiating a slope face of the die D with a laser beam, and the distance is measured again by shifting the laser beam and irradiating a reflecting surface inside the slit of the die D. After the ram 7 is positioned in the prescribed position after working, the distance to the die D is again measured by the similar manner, and the laser length-measuring device 21 is vertically moved so that the distance to the die D at this time is equalized with the distance before starting the working. The position correction of the ram is calculated from the difference between the distance to the punch P at this time and the distance to the punch P before working, and the position of the ram 7 is corrected.
