The house is constructed with a greenhouse made from opening or sliding glazed panels (10) built into it along the whole of one wall of its lounge (2) on the southern side and with its two ends protected by wings to the east and west. Heat produced by the greenhouse is accumulated in a solid 20cm-thick floor slab (5) of the lounge and in solid concrete or stone walls (6) round it. The lounge is ventilated by a system of fanlights, shutters and grilles, and the greenhouse is protected on the outside by an insulating metal shutter (11) which is rolled down on cold nights or when the house is empty.
