PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To classify collected measuring data in a group unit for example, a sample unit or a lot unit to statistically process the same in the group unit. SOLUTION: A hardness tester 1 is equipped with a hardness measuring part 2 pressing an indenter to the surface of a sample to measure the hardness of the sample, a memory device 4 having a memory region capable of storing the measuring data from the hardness measuring part 2, an operation panel unit 6 for inputting classification data for classifying the measuring data stored in the memory region of the memory device 4 and a control part 3 for classifying the measuring data stored in the memory region of the memory device 4 in a group unit such as a sample unit or a lot unit based on the classification data to statistically process the same in the group unit.
