<p>A valve (100) includes a bobbin/valve body (200), a solenoid (300) and a plunger (400). The bobbin/valve body (200) is formed in one piece, defines all of the valve's inlet/outlet ports (202, 204, 206) and forms the entire support structure for the solenoid (300) and the plunger (400). To assemble the valve (100), a plunger body (402) is inserted into the bobbin/valve body (200) through an end opening (232) into a longitudinal bore (260) and a spring (406) is positioned to bias the plunger body (402) to a normally closed position. A pole piece (308) is then inserted through the end opening (232) into the longitudinal bore (260) and attached to the bobbin/valve body (200). A solenoid coil (302) is wound around a central cylindrical section (214) of the bobbin/valve body (200), and terminal pins (304) and a flux conductor (306) are attached to the bobbin/valve body (200). The attachment of the terminal pins (304), the flux conductor (306), and/or the pole piece (308) may be accomplished by press-fit and/or swage coupling techniques.</p> |
