A method for controlling the amplification of a microphone with an integrated amplifier having a controllable operating point via external circuit elements, involves forming a first physical control variable (STG1) from the output voltage of the microphone, in order to control a microphone supply voltage (UL) for changing the sensitivity and/or frequency characteristic of the microphone (MF). Alternately, a second physical control variable (Ust) is controllable in order to adjust a microphone supply impedance (ZL) for changing the sensitivity and/or the frequency characteristic of the microphone (MF).
