<p>The invention concerns the use for making paper coating slips of a water soluble copolymer in neutral or alkaline medium as agent for simultaneously adjusting water retention in coating slips and the Brookfield viscosity of said coating slips. The invention also concerns a novel water retention agent of paper coating slips water soluble in neutral or alkaline medium.
