An optical logic operation device comprising two polarizers (2, 3) arranged in a crossed Nicols form and a dye-containing polymer thin film (1) between the polarizers (2, 3) and parallel to them. An XOR operation is carried out by providing a mechanism for projecting a monitoring light beam (5) onto one polarizer (2) and a mechanism for projecting two pumping light beams (7, 8) having polarization axes orthogonal to each other onto the dye-containing polymer thin film (1) in such a way that the areas onto which the pumping light beams may agree with each other. Such an optical logical operation device can be driven with low electric power and performs a parallel XOR operation.
