A sweeping implement (10) having a body (12) with strips (20, 18) of relatively rigid polymer material including a flat working surface, the strips (20, 18) being configured sufficiently rigid so that in use the flat working surface is parallel to a surface to be swept. The strips (20, 18) are arranged in a concave form in the direction of travel to form a collection zone (22) for swept material such as particles that roll and other substances like hair. The strips (20, 18) are constructed from an ethylene propylene diene monomer, including approximately 22% kaolin by weight. The kaolin including approximately 25% silica by weight.
