A composition for the prevention of insect infestation in refuse containers comprises a carrier treated with ethereal oil(s) or the corresponding nature-identical odor. Also new is the use of the oil or odor per se for the same purpose. An Independent claim is also included for the use of the oil or odor without a carrier for the prevention of insect infestation in refuse containers.
