Fabric adhesive tape

Adhesive tape (I) for binding cable forms comprises (a) an open woven fabric base which is treated with a halogen- and antimony-free fire retardant (II) and (b) a polar, self-adhesive material (III) also contg. (II). Pref. base (a) is impregnated with inorganic phosphates or hydroxides, pref. ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and adhesive (b) contains the same fire retardant. (a) is made of woven viscose, cotton or pref. polyester fibre and (b) is an acrylate or modified rubber adhesive with low solubility in non-polar liquids. The non-adhesive side of (a) may also be coated with a backing varnish, pref. an acrylate, esp. pref. a thermally crosslinkable carboxyl gp., contg. acrylate ester copolymer.
