PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize the possibility of infection by bacteria from the outside and lengthen the effective life by including a nonwoven fabric layer made up of a hydrophobic fiber and an absorptive fiber, a nonwoven fabric layer consisting of a hydrophobic fiber, a crosslinked alginic acid sponge layer and an uncrosslinked hyaluronic acid sponge layer. SOLUTION: A wound dressing includes a nonwoven fabric layer 11 consisting of a hydrophobic fiber and an absorptive fiber, a nonwoven fabric layer 12 made up of a hydrophobic fiber, a crosslinked alginic acid sponge layer 13 and an uncrosslinked hyaluronic acid sponge layer 14. The nonwoven fabric layer 12 laminated to the nonwoven fabric layer 11, reduces fuzzing out of the nonwoven fabric layer 11 and adjust effectively the flexibility of the wound dressing. As the hyaluronic acid fuses easily, when applied to an organism in the would healing process, when using in a wound covering required to have a relatively long form retaining property, chemical crosslinking is introduced into the alginic acid as a biological material by a crosslinking agent, and the function of promoting healing is given to the uncrosslinked hyaluronic acid layer at the same time.
