PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle moving type automatic lathe capable of byte machining in a back surface machining, and to provided support unit and a positioning jig therefor. SOLUTION: A support unit 23 is positioned between a first spindle 10 and a second spindle 11 in the Z-axis direction and holds plural cutter blade holders 24, 25, 26, 27 provided in parallel with the Z-axis with a constant space in the X-axis direction. The cutter blade holders 24, 25, 26, 27 held by the support unit 23 can hold a cutter blade at a first spindle side and a second spindle side, and the cutter blade holder 27 provided in one end of the support unit has an auxiliary holder 31 at the second spindle side, and a byte 32 can be fitted to this auxiliary holder 31 facing in the X-axis direction.
