PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair protective cosmetic capable of recovering cuticle of hair which is damaged by chlorine contained in the swimming pool water and the city water, and preventing the hair from drying loosely or stiffening by adding a specific aminoethane compound. SOLUTION: This hair protective cosmetic contains one, two or more kinds of aminoethane compounds of the formula: NH2CH2CH2SO2X [X is M, SM or OM; M is H or an alkali (alkaline earth) metal, provided that X is not OH]. The compound of the formula comprises an analogous compound of taurine (2-aminoethanesulfonic acid: X=OH) which is a natural product contained in bovine bile, etc., and hypotaurine (2-aminoethanesulfinic acid: X=H) or thiotaurine (2-aminoethanethiosulfonic acid: X=SH) is concretely exemplified. The hair protective cosmetic preferably contains the compound of the formula in an amount of 0.0001-1.0 (W/W)% based on the total amount of the cosmetic.
