PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely press envelopes while preventing damages of the envelopes by arranging a driven belt on a carrying belt in a pressing and urging manner by an urging means to uniformly distribute the pressure over a wide area in a pressing device to adhere portions to be pasted of the envelopes while carrying the envelopes. SOLUTION: A driven belt 16 whose lower side is brought into contact with a part of an upper side of a carrying belt 3 is added to a carrying device to place and carry envelopes 4 on the traveling carrying belt 3. The driven belt 16 is provided with a plurality of driven rollers 11, 12, 13... which support the driven belt 16 in a freely traveling manner in contact therewith from its inner side, and have the flexibility capable of absorbing the differential pressure caused by the irregularity in the partial thickness of the envelopes 4 when at least the surface is brought into contact with the envelopes through the driven belt 16. These driven rollers are pivotably supported by a common roller shaft connection plate 17, the connection plate 17 is supported by a lever 21 in a freely oscillating manner, and elastically urged downward by a spring 27.
