摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate positional deviations of forward and return passages by printing a positional deviation inspecting pattern on a printing medium at a representative nozzle row, and correcting a deviation of a recording position in a main scanning direction according to a preferably correcting state thereof. SOLUTION: In the case that inclinations of a nozzle row are, for example, different in forward and return passages, when a test pattern is printed by using a nozzle for forming a center C, a fifth rule from a left is nearest the same straight line. A correcting value of the print is decided based on the test pattern, and discharging timing of an ink droplet is regulated. An optimum correction is executed for the overall nozzle row. That is, one of upper and lower ends E1 and E2 is not largely deviated, and any of the upper and lower ends E1 and E2 is equivalently reduced at its deviation width. Accordingly, a correcting value for correcting the deviation of the recording position of a main scanning direction of the forward and return passages is decided with the nozzle disposed in a predetermined range near a center of the row as a representative nozzle row.
