PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding apparatus capable of realizing the further reduction of a particle size. SOLUTION: The recessed part 3a of a fixed element 3 is formed into a triangular cross-sectional shape so as not to generate a revolving flow in the recessed part 3a while the recessed part 2a of a rotary element 2 is formed into a dome-like cross-sectional shape so as to generate a revolving flow, that is, a vortex flow. When the dimension of the gap 6 between the rotary element 2 and the fixed element 3, that is, the radial dimension of the gap 6 is set to 1.5 mm and the rotational speed of the rotary element 2 is adjusted to 135 m/s and the target average particle size of a fine powder to be produced is set to 8.0μm, the supply amt. of a coarsely ground material is 9.00 kg/h and the obtained vol. average particle size thereof is 7.3μm.
