PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily achieve a high carrying efficiency at a low cost providing a perpendicular conveyor having an inlet for caps at a lower part and an outlet for caps at a specified position in an upper part in a sorter to lead a series of caps for a sealed fluid food package to the specified position. SOLUTION: A sorter 1 to place a series of caps 2 for sealed package of a fluid food such as milk and juice having a raised circumferential edge of a round disk-like body at a specified outlet position has a perpendicular chain conveyor 5, a series of caps 2 are fed from a feed station 6, and fed to an outlet station 7 along a path P. A sensor assembly 8 is provided to determine the position of each cap 2 with respect to this conveyor 5, and a discharge assembly is controlled according to its output, and the discharge assembly is set at the position rotated by the specified angle around the axis across a substantially U-shaped positioning part P2.
