PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain particularly an ink jet recording medium having improved light resistance by manufacturing the medium by arranging a recording layer containing a phenol compound having at least a sulfonic acid group on a support such as woodfree paper or the like. SOLUTION: The ink jet recording medium is manufactured by arranging a recording layer containing a phenol compound having a sulfonic acid group. As the compound having the sulfonic acid group, a phenol sulfonate or a sulfosalicylate is suitably selectively used. More particularly, the medium is manufactured by impregnating or coating the support with a liquid containing a phenol compound having a sulfonic acid group, and providing an ink receptive layer containing an inorganic pigment and a phenol compound having a sulfonic acid group on the support. As the pigment, an inorganic pigment such as a silica having a mean particle size of 1 μm or less is suitably used. |
