PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cope with speed-up in a screw capper by urging a piston toward a cap holder with force smaller than fluid pressure led into a pressure chamber. SOLUTION: A capping head comprises a cap holder 50 which holds a cap in firm contact with the peripheral face thereof, a piston 52 which advances/ retracts toward/from the cap holder 50 and pushes out the cap holder 50 toward the cap when advancing forward, and a pressure chamber 50 which urges a piston 52 toward the cap holder 50 by fluid pressure led in. The capping head is formed such that with the cap held by the cap holder 50, it is rolled and fastened onto a container. Further, a spring 62 is provided for urging the piston 52 toward the cap holder 50 with force smaller than the fluid pressure led into the pressure chamber 58, thereby creating a normal condition in which the cap holder 50 holds the cap all the time. Therefore, it does not take a long time to actuate the holder and can cope with speed-up in a screw capper.
