PURPOSE: A method for managing a version of a portable information terminal is provided for a host system to manage files to be loaded to the portable information terminal, and to fix a lack of spaces generated when transmitting the files. CONSTITUTION: In case that a file, to which a portable information terminal is loaded, is changed when connecting a host system to the portable information terminal, the size of the file to be changed is compared with an available memory of the portable information terminal. In case that the size of the file is smaller than the memory, the file to be changed is determined. After that, a change in file list is generated. The changed file list is stored in a specific directory of the host system. In case that the file is transmitted, the changed file list is transmitted to the portable information terminal.
