PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an optical connector form being entangled with densely laid optical fibers in the case of pulling in hand over hand the optical fiber on the rear end side of the optical connector through such densely laid optical fibers. SOLUTION: This optical connector is constituted such that a boots 12 are provided for the optical connector body 8 at its rear end from which an optical fiber 6 comes out, that a slider 9 covering the outer circumferential surface of the body 8 is fitted attachably/detachably to the body 8, that a pair of projections 5 projecting to the boots 12 side are provided on the rear end side of the slider 9 in a manner oppositely facing each other, and that at least the tip ends of the projections 5 are tapered so that the width between the outer faces of the oppositely facing projections 5 is reduced towards their projected tip ends. A part of the outer face at the tip end of the boots 12 is covered with the projected tip end of the projections 5, thereby the formation of a step between the rear end of the slider 9 and the tip end of the boots 12 is suppressed, and practically a distance between the inner wall at the projecting tip end of the projections 5 and the outer circumference of the boots 12 covered with these projecting tip ends becomes nealy zero.
