PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a state of a projector main body to be confirmed on a screen even when the projector main body is under any condition. SOLUTION: A state detecting circuit 15 detects a state of a projector main body 14 and supplies a detection signal a1 of this detected result to a display device 16. The display device 16 is actuated by a driving circuit different from that of the main body 14 and it becomes operatable from the applying of a power source at a period earlier than operation of the main body 14, for example, it projects image light performing display of the detection result indicated by the detection signal a1 of the circuit 15 on a screen 11 as necessary like in cases that the main body 14 does not project a video on the screen. Thus, the circuit 15 and the device 16 are provided independently from the main body 14 and can display the state of the main body 14 when the main body 14 does not project the video on the screen.
