PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a braille plate which can be produced at a low cost and makes braille easily readable by providing a metallic plate with holes which are pierced in the braille forming positions of the metallic plate heading toward the rear surface side from the front surface side of the metallic plate and small spherical bodies which have a diameter larger than the diameter of these holes, which are press-fitted and fixed into the holes and partly projected for the front surface of the metallic plate. SOLUTION: The braille forming positions of the metallic plate 2 are pierced with the holes 3 which head toward the rear surface 2b from the front surface 2a. Next, the bottoms of the small spherical bodies 4 are fitted into the apertures of the holes 3 on the front surface side of the metallic plate 2 and the upper parts of the small spherical bodies 4 are pressurized downward by means of a punch and push the small spherical bodies 4 down to a prescribed depth in the small spherical bodies 4 and the holes 3. The setting of the press fitting quantity of the small spherical bodies 4 into the holes 3 is so executed that the projecting quantity H from the front surfaces 2a of the small spherical bodies 4 is below half the diameter of the small spherical bodies 4. Since the small spherical bodies 4 are larger in the diameter than the diameter of the holes 3, the contact parts of the inside surface parts of the holes 3 of the metallic plate 2 and the contact parts of the small spherical bodies 4 are put into a cohered state with each other (pressure cohered or seized state) under a plastic deformation, thereby, the small spherical bodies 4 are fixed and held in the holes 3 and the press-fitted and fixed articles can be obtained.
