PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-contact type charging detector allowing an on-site construction worker to easily, safely detect whether a detected part has a charged state or not, accurately without a detection mistake. SOLUTION: In this charging detector, a detection electrode 16 forming a stray capacitance C01 between the detection electrode 16 and a detected part E in a charged state by approaching the detected part E is housed in a main body case 1 near a tip part 1a. By detecting electrostatic induction current I0 flowing from the detected part E to a human body ground by the stray capacitance C01 and a stray capacitance C02 formed between the charging detector and the human body ground, and by producing intermittent sound on the basis of the detection signal, the charged state of the detected part E is notified. The detection electrode 16 has a flat plate shape having an electrode face (16a) facing to the detected part E, while a shielding member 17 is disposed such that the shielding member 17 surrounds the periphery of the electrode face (16a). Thereby, the charging detector has directivity.
