PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the pattern precision of an upper core layer, to shorten the length of a magnetic path and to increase inductance by directly forming the coil layer inducing a recording magnetic field on an insulating layer in the more height side depth part than a groove part, in the upper core layer and a lower core layer. SOLUTION: A Gd-determing insulating layer 28 is formed within the range in which a coil layer 27 is not formed in range from on the gap layer 23 formed within a groove part 21a to on a height side insulating layer 21 nearer than the groove part 21a, and the insulating layer 28 by Gd is formed under the coil layer 27. The height dimension H3 from an upper magnetic pole layer 24 to a coil insulating layer 29 is lessened by the dimension equivalent to the thickness of the Gd-determing insulating layer 28. The upper core layer 26 formed in range from on the upper magnetic pole layer 24 to on the coil insulating layer 29 is pattern formed with a prescribed shape with excellent precision by forming so as to lessen the height dimension H3 from on the upper magnetic pole layer 24 to on the coil insulating layer 29.
