PARALLEL ASSOCIATED RECOGNITION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recognition system capable of preprocessing the inputs of several different media for application as a single vector to the easily expandable array of neural networks and enabling a medium preprocessor to be field- programmable. SOLUTION: This recognition system is provided with at least two field- programmable logic array devices, preprocesses data from various different medium inputs and provides a feature extraction vector to a common vector input port. The neural network recognizes an input pattern by parallel comparing these vectors with vectors stored in each neural network cell. By changing the programming-on-the fly of a field-programmable device so as to be suited to each new job, various recognition jobs are enabled.
