PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a liquid crystal display device with excellent contrast by transferring spacers from a transferring body side, arranging the spacers only on the black matrix part through arranging the spacers on the substrate for the liquid crystal display device and excluding the spacers from a display pixel part. SOLUTION: A substrate for the liquid crystal display device, which is heated over the glass transition temperature of a thermoplastic resin, is brought into contact with the spacers, of which the surfaces are provided with the thermoplastic resin formed and which exist on a transferring body. The surfaces of the spacers on the side brought into contact with the substrate are melted so as to increase the contact area and to strengthen the adhesive power. The transfer of the spacers is carried out with releasing the substrate. It is preferable to use a substrate with projecting and recessing parts as the transferring body, to uniformly arrange the spacers on the transferring body and to transfer only the spacers on the projecting parts of the transferring body to the substrate side from the transferring body side. When the positions for the projecting parts of the transferring body are determined with respect to the substrate, the spacers can be arranged on optional positions on the liquid crystal substrate.
