PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain technology which enables confirmation as to whether a valve body is seated, without using a position sensor which detects the position of the valve body. SOLUTION: A clearance (valve clearance) between a needle and the valve body is detected. In a valve closing control, the relative relation between the needle and valve body is comprehended according to the clearance and valve seating control is performed. The valve clearance is the quantity of displacement of the needle, starting from when the needle begins to move by electrifying an electromagnetic coil for valve closure up to when the acceleration of the needle becomes temporarily negative. The displacement quantity is calculated on the basis of a variation value (displacement quantity = Z12) of the needle position or the integral value (displacement quantity A12) of the speed.
