PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a thin film magnetic head and its manufacturing method capable of reducing the influence of the difference in level of a contact hole and capable of correctly forming the position of a life dimension 0. SOLUTION: When a second front intermediate core 72 is formed on a first front intermediate core 56, a contact hole 57 is made to correspond to the shape of the second front intermediate core 72. For this purpose, the second front intermediate core 72 is subjected to a resist coating, exposing and patterning in the state of non-difference in level to be formed. Therefore, the influence of the difference in level of the contact hole 57 is reduced and the position of a life dimension 0 is correctly formed.
