<p>The present invention relates to a process for preparing optically active Corey alcohol of the general formula (-) I, that is (3aR, 4S, 5R, 6aS)-hexahydro-4-hydroxymethyl-5-(4-phenylbenzoyloxy)cyclopenta (b) furan-2-one and process for preparing optically active Corey alcohol derivative of the general formula of the general formula (-) Ia, that is (3aR, 4S, 5R, 6aS)-hexahydro-4-hydroxymethyl-5-benzoyloxycyclopenta (b) furan-2-one, from the compound (+) II, which is obtained in great yield and enantiomeric purity by selective hydrolysis of easily accessible racemate of the general formula +/- II by catalytic action of enzyme lipase in aqueous phosphate buffer at room temperature under formation of optically active acetate of the general formula (-) III. The lipase can be preferably used porcine pancreas lipase.</p> |
