PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To comfortably perform cleaning, to prevent heating of a motor while reducing labor, and to secure durability of a brush of the motor by detecting a refuse quantity and an air quantity passing through a dust/dirt passing passage, and controlling motor supply electric power according to these values. SOLUTION: First of all, when a user supplies electric power to a motor 2 by a certain specific phase control quantity by operating a switch of a hand side operation part, suction force is generated to suck in refuse of a floor surface or the like. This sucked refuse is detected by a refuse sensor 3 when passing through a dust/dirt passing passage. An air quantity Qn at this time is detected by an air quantity detecting means 4. A preset reference value Qa and a suction time air quantity Qn are compared by a comparing means 5. A control means 8 phase-controls electric power supplied to the motor 2 according to this comparing result and a detecting result of the refuse sensor 3. Thus, electric power according to a suction time refuse quantity and a suction time air quantity can be supplied to the motor 2 to reduce labor.
