PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition capable of generating a nontoxic working gas for e.g. air bags in high combustibility by including a specific amount of an oxalic acid metal salt as combustion catalyst as the essential component, and, as fuel components, each specific amount of a nitrogen-contg. organic compound and an oxidizing agent, and also a specific amount of a molding auxiliary. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including 0.5-10 wt.%, on an oxalic acid basis, of an oxalic acid metal salt as combustion catalyst as the essential component, and, as fuel components, 25-60 wt.% of a nitrogen-contg. organic compound and 30-70 wt.% of an oxidizing agent, and also 0.1-10 wt.% of a molding auxiliary. This composition is subjected to press molding or extrusion molding to obtain the corresponding stable gas generator. In the above case, the metal in the oxalic acid metal salt is pref. cobalt, iron, nickel, manganese or the like; Preferably, the fuel component and/or oxidizing agent is incorporated with 0.1-10 wt.% of an anti-caking agent such as microparticulate silica followed by grinding and then making a particle size adjustment to <=80 μm in particle number-based 50% average size; and the nitrogen-contg. organic compound is pref. 5-aminotetrazole, nitroguanidine or the like, and the oxidizing agent is pref. a phase-stabilized guanidine nitrate or the like. |
