PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel for fishing that can secure a sufficient amount of the stroke in the back and forth direction of the spool, as the main body of the reel is inhibited from protruding backward. SOLUTION: The reel main body 1 is formed in a cylinder 1a at its front part, bulged in the rear 1b, simultaneously the leg 1c for fitting the reel is formed on its upper part. The cylinder 1a is arranged so that it may come into the inside of the tubular cylinder 7b of the rotor 7, the rotary shaft cylinder 2 of the rotor driving mechanism A, the driving shaft 4 of the driving mechanism B and the traverse cum shaft 5 of the oscillation mechanism are arranged in the inside of the cylinder 1a. Further, the driving gear 9 is provided in the bulge 1b to bite each other with the gear 4d of the driving shaft 4, the linked gear 14 of the driving shaft 4 bite each other with the driven gear 2c of the rotor driving mechanism A and the rotary shaft cylinder 2 and the rotor 1 are allowed to rotate. The traverse cum shaft 5 is rotated through the driven gear 2c and the second driven gear 23 of the oscillation mechanism D whereby the slider 6 and the spool 8 are reciprocated in the back and forth direction.
