PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shock absorber provided with a device having a blow-off function of the device not so complicated and expansive and also a flexible disc function of an extension valve combined. SOLUTION: This shock absorber has an extension valve assembly capable of practicing a flexible disc function required for passing fluid from a piston assembly 32 to the opposite side in a stroke of the shock absorber. The extension valve assembly has a blow-off function by which fluid flow passing through the piston 32 can be increased when fluid pressure acted on the extension valve assembly exceeds a specified level. The blow-off function is characterized in that both shock absorber and suspension device where the shock absorber is incorporated are protected.
