PURPOSE: To produce a gel type weak anion exchange resin suitable to separate the weak org. acid from a mixed liq. containing the weak org. acid by introducing a copolymer beads by polymerizing a monovinyl arom. monomer with a cross-linking monomer and polymerizing the beads in the presence of a Friedel- Crafts catalyst, then cross-linking the obtained polymer. CONSTITUTION: A sheet is produced from a styrene/divinylbenzene copolymer particle having 0.1-2 wt.% cross linking, and the beads having an apparent crosslinking degree lower than 4 wt.% is prepared by allowing the sheet to absorb styrene, divinylbenzene and polymerization initiator and polymerizing the monomers. The cross-linked gel type weak anion exchange resin expressed by formula is produced by polymerizing the beads in the presence of the Friedel Crafts catalyst, then swelling the obtained polymer with a haloalkylation agent and aminating the polymer with a aliphat. secondary amine (e.g.; dimethyl amine). The resin is suitable to separate the weak org. acid from the mixed liq. containing the weak org. acid. |
