PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stent which has flexibility and strength and allows safe clinical application, for example, allows the reduction of the danger of stent dislodgment by constituting the stent of a shape memory alloy of a specific temperature or above in the inverse transformation temperature of thermoelectric type martensite transformation. SOLUTION: The stent 1 is a tubular stent expandable in a radical direction from the inside and is composed of the shape memory alloy of >=35 deg.C in the inverse transformation temperature of the thermoelectric type martensite transformation. The stent is used by a method of first inserting the stent 1 into a blood vessel in the state of fixing the stent to the outer periphery of a balloon part 14 of a catheter 11. Since the stent 1 is mounted in the balloon 14, a stent profile may be diminished and the stent may bed made to arrive at the inside of the fine vessel. When the stent arrives at the desired section in the body, the stent expands in the balloon part 14 to dilate the narrow segment of the vessel, such as the blood vessel. The stent 1 is formed of the shape memory alloy of at least >=35 deg.C in the transformation temperature and since the stent is deformed to a plastic deformation region after the dilation in the balloon 14, the stent does not restore the initial shape any more in the body.
