MANUFACTURE OF HIGH SPECIFIC STRENGTH METALLIC COMPOSITE MATERIAL USING SHORT METALLIC FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a high specific strength metallic composite material using short metallic fibers which is high in specific strength and mechanical strength, simple in manufacturing man-hour, and low in manufacturing cost. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the high specific strength metallic composite material comprises a mixing process to mix metallic short fibers 10 and matrix powder 11 lower in strength than the metallic short fibers 10, a pressure-forming process to form the mixed material formed in the mixing process while it is pressed, an HIP treatment process to implement the hot isotactic treatment of a mixed and pressed stock 13 formed in the pressing and forming process, and a hot working process to implement the hot working of a composite stock 15 treated in the HIP treatment process.
