PURPOSE: A compressor is provided to reduce manufacturing cost and noise by eliminating power transmission elements such as a belt, a belt pulley and a tension pulley. CONSTITUTION: A compressor comprises a driving shaft(12) extended from a crank shaft of an engine and which is arranged to be rotatable; a main body case(4) arranged along the periphery of the driving shaft and fixed to a vehicle through a bracket(5); a compressor device(40) having a compression chamber(41) arranged in lengthwise direction of the driving shaft within the main body case, a piston(42) arranged to reciprocate within the compression chamber, and an intake valve(41a) and an outlet valve(41b) which are open/shut off by the operation of the piston; a rotation member(6) installed between the main body case and the driving shaft so as to operate the compressor device, and which has an inclined disk(61) for directly operating the piston; and a clutch device(8) having a driving gear(82) installed at the driving shaft and a slave gear(81) installed at the inner diameter of the rotation member so as to control the rotation of the rotation member. When the driving shaft rotates the rotation member through the clutch device, the pistons within the main body case reciprocate in lengthwise direction of the driving shaft, thus operating the compression chamber.
