PURPOSE: A projection system is provided to compact a construction of the system and increase brightness by using a DMD(Digital Micromirror Device or Deformable Micromirror Device) including a plurality of micromirrors. CONSTITUTION: The projection system has a structure that a predetermined image is displayed by using a digital micromirror device(20). A light output from a light source(22) like an arc lamp is divided to R,G,B wavelengths. The R,G,B wavelengths are transmitted to the digital micromirror device(20) and then the reflected light from the digital micromirror device(20) is displayed to a screen(24), thereby realizing a predetermined image. The light source(22) includes an arc lamp containing xenon or metalhallide gas compound. The light is divided by a selection device as R,G,B wavelengths. The selection device includes a circular rotation plate(28) formed a plurality of slits(28a,28b,28c).
