PURPOSE: A method of driving a plasma display panel is provided which reduces the entire address period to prevent deterioration of brightness and restricts a decrease in the contrast using recording discharge. CONSTITUTION: In a method of driving a plasma display panel that selectively combines X sub-fields(SF1,SF2, ...,SFX) to which sustain discharge periods are respectively allocated in the ratio of 2<SP POS="POST">0</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">1</SP>:2<SP POS="POST">2</SP>: ...2<SP POS="POST">x-1</SP> for a fixed period of time to compose one-frame picture in order to display multi-level images on th plasma display panel, selective discharge driving is performed in a recording discharge or erase discharge mode for an address period in the X sub-fields for the purpose of reducing the address period of the whole frame. |
