MOLD POWDER FOR BOTH HEAT RETAINING PROPERTY AND CARBURIZATION PREVENTION

PURPOSE: A mold powder for both heat retaining property and carburization prevention is provided to prevent carburization and to keep good heat retaining property with sufficient thickness of a molten slag layer without lowering the amount of carbon in the mold powder. CONSTITUTION: A mold powder contains MnO2 and/or Fe2O3. MnO2 is used in an equation, R = Ro + 0.0029 * (wt% MnO2). Herein, R means the target molting speed of the mold powder and Ro means the molting speed before adding an oxidizer. Fe2O3 is used in a formula, R = Ro + 0.0076 * (wt% Fe2O3). Herein, R means the target molting speed of the mold powder and the Ro is the molting speed before adding the oxidizer.
